Hunter Readymixed Concrete (HRMC) has taken a significant step towards digital transformation by implementing a comprehensive telematics system from Netcorp across our fleet of 31 concrete agitators and 1 prime mover. This powerful solution delivers a wide range of benefits to both our operations and our customers, improving efficiency, safety, and transparency.

Enhanced Compliance and Driver Safety:

  • Fatigue Management: The system ensures compliance with regulations by calculating remaining work time and break schedules for drivers in real-time, allowing the plant to make informed decisions for optimal work allocation.
  • Mechanical Fault Management: Real-time monitoring of truck health, including warning codes, pressure, temperature, and fuel usage, empowers proactive maintenance and adherence to NHVAS compliance. This system provides a 100% verifiable record, covering all 19 potential points of audit failure.

Improved Operational Efficiency:

  • Centralised Administration: Paperwork is significantly reduced with the elimination of vehicle diaries, logs, and physical fault books. Faults are instantly recorded and sent directly to workshop management software, saving time and streamlining processes.
  • Accurate GPS Tracking: High-resolution, 10-second GPS positioning enables precise route tracking and complaint investigation, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
  • Onboard Weight Sensors and Water Monitoring: Real-time monitoring of weight and water addition through digital sensors assists in determining barrel build-up, leftover materials, and making informed allocation decisions, ultimately contributing to improved quality control.

Customer Experience Optimisation:

  • Integrated Navigation: Drivers benefit from hands-free navigation with Heremaps and auto-address input, enhancing safety and improving delivery times.
  • PTT Radio Integration: Scheduled trials for PTT radio communication with Zello will further improve communication and coordination between drivers and dispatch.
  • Future Integration: Ultimately, the system aims to eliminate paper delivery dockets, transitioning to digital signing and email notifications. Additionally, SMS alerts will inform customers about concrete batching, reducing unnecessary calls and improving communication.

Successful Implementation and Future Plans:

The entire hardware installation was completed within 10 days, with staff training conducted in-house by Hunter Readymixed Concrete. Notably, 81% of the trucks are already weight-calibrated within 3% accuracy, showcasing the project’s success. As trucks are de-dagged and re-calibrated, expect this accuracy to increase to 99.9%.  HRMC also played a crucial role in trialing and providing feedback for the water meter units, leading to the implementation of a flawless version 2 across the entire fleet.
